About Maldon Carnival

The Maldon Carnival began in 1895 as a riverside carnival, making this year its 130th anniversary. What started as a small local event by the river quickly became a much-loved annual celebration, bringing together residents and visitors alike.

Over the decades, the Carnival has grown into one of Maldon’s most anticipated events, featuring parades, decorated floats, live entertainment, and family activities. Though there have been pauses during wartime and occasional breaks, the Carnival has always returned stronger, thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the enthusiasm of the community.

Today, the Carnival not only celebrates Maldon’s history and spirit but also continues its tradition of raising funds for local charities and providing an inclusive space for all to enjoy. It has evolved with the times, but its heart remains the same: a joyful celebration of community, creativity, and generosity.
